Hint: Learning To Golf Doesn't Have To Be Expensive

There aren't any secrets to golfing like Tiger Woods. I mean, if you really think about it; all you really need to be able to do is hit a golf ball, in the correct direction, with the right force, after picking the right club, to make it go into the hole in the middle of the green.

See, why download golfing guides and tutorials when I just explained it perfectly? I mean really, it's just a little white ball and a club. How hard could golfing really be? Are you really sure you need help?

OK, you know I'm lying, and so do I. Beginners aren't the only ones who need a guide on how to hit a golf ball down the fairway in a straight line. Even professional golfers take lessons, read books and work with trainers on a daily basis to get better and to maintain their edge.

I'm not a good enough golfer to give anyone lessons, or write a “how to golf guide for beginners”. But, what I do know is how to find the right golfing books and videos on the internet to help me maintain, and even improve, my golf game, without spending a lot of money. Let's face it, I'm running a website about used golfing equipment, so of course I'm going to be tossing out cheap options…

My first choice would be to watch the golf videos that are available from Netflix. Since Netflix is cheap, and you can watch the videos online for free if you have a membership, there's no reason to pay to buy them. These videos are great, sure they're not all “how to golf” videos by Tiger Woods, but they have a lot of the same golf videos that you can buy at your local golf shop, like "golf Strategies", Featuring Ryder Cup champ Robert Karlsson and coach Simon Holmes as your virtual golf gurus, or if that's too hard, you can just watch "Golf for Dummies" while eating popcorn.

My second choice would be to grab a couple of golfing “how too” books. While these aren't going to give you the visuals that you are going to get from watching a professional “how to golf” video, they can be picked up used, on EBay and Amazon, for pennies on the dollar. If you're going to try doing this cheap, you might as well grab a couple of used golfing videos too while you're there.

Finally, the third option, which should really be the first, is to get a golf lesson at your local public golf course. You can get a golf lesson pretty cheap at a public course these days, and sometimes they have coupons, so that you can buy a couple of lessons and then get the third one for half price, or even free, in some areas.

Truth-be-told, everyone should have a couple of lessons just so the pro can teach them the rules and show them the proper way to hold their clubs. Just remember, like I pointed out in the third paragraph above…. Even pros take lessons! And so should you!
